New Bridge?? Will it affect fishing??
As many of you may know they are building a new bridge upstream of the bridge that is existing now going to Perrysburg. This fall they started building dams across the river to work on the pillers that were put up. Since then they have had to take out, replace and make bigger dams due to water levels washing the dams out. Now they only have about 50 feet of dam going out from both sides but they never cleared any of the middle out since last highwater. I was up there in my boat and there is still plenty of rock where the old dams were.
Many people think this will affect the fishing and i really couldnt tell you. The way i think is that the fish are going to see the dams and hold up there and wait for another highwater to move up past that. Some disagree and say that it wont make a difference and there are others that think there wont be any fish going above that area. Well all of the fish that i have heard and that i have caught legally have been aboce the new bridge area but usually we would of got more in some of the spots we fish so Im not sure. The wash out from the dams has created a few new rock bars below the bridge which could possibly be good fishing and the new pillers could be very good place to fish especially behind the dams now because it is all slack water, fishing the breaks and points could be very productive.
I talked to a officer from the Ohio Division of Watercraft yesterday and asked if they are going to allow boats to anchor and fish that area and his response was yes there is no problem with that. He said they may not want you below them if they are working but they can not make you move, it is your choice to fish there. I know some people were wondering about that and i hope that clears up your questions.
All in all i think that it will affect the walleye a little bit this year but next year when everything is done i think the new pillars will be a favorite spot for people to be fishing.

If anyone knows something that i dont i would greatly appreciate you letting me know so i could post it on this page. Im kinda in the dark just going from word of mouth on what i know and have heard. Thanks

This is where the new bridge is located, between the old pillars and the bridge that is used now
