Your Guide
I have been fishing the river since Iwas 6 years old by myself and know the river just as good if not better then most people that fish it. I am only 16 years old not that it should matter but many seem to think that a 16 year old doesnt know what he's doing. I have been guiding for 3 years and havent had one unhappy trip.

Fishing The Maumee
If you are fishing the river for the first time I will show you the spots that will hold fish. I also will show you the best ways to catch them in certain areas. There are many ways to catch the walleye most popular and easiest is a jig and tail. You can also Carolina rig floating heads or fish live bait (rarely done). If you have fished the river before and are looking for the spot that holds the big 12 lb. trophy I can also help you there. I know the river and its holes like the back of my hand, and always know where the big fish are holding. Fishing for these bigger fish requires a little more patience and also finess.

I can take up to 3 people each trip more then that is a problem with netting fish, and help. We will be walking the river banks and wading to certain areas so it does require some walk (good Exercise for ya) If I only have one trip that day we can fish how ever long you want to fish but if I have 2 trips it will be limited time. That will be arranged if you decide to come up or down wherever your coming from.It is hard to carry any food with you since we are always moving and not really any place to keep it. A back pack with water and a snack is a good idea if you cant go without food.

For the trip I will clean your fish and give you mine as part of the trip. It only takes me a little bit to clean walleye, lots of experience. If you do not want to keep the walleye that is fine too, it would be a good idea to bring a camera either way, since you do snag some very large fish and you never know what you will hook into.

Fishing from a Boat
If you are interested in fishing from a boat that can be arranged. I have access to a small 14 foot boat on occasion but other then that if you want to bring a boat and have me show you around, since there are alot of rock bars (its dangerous if you don't know where your going). I can go along with you in the boat if that is set up ahead of the trip. Fishing from a boat is genarally better for bigger and more legal fish. Must be an outboard boat nothing to much bigger then 18 foot. If you have a trolling motor I have a method that knocks them dead useing troller.

Supplies Needed

You will most certainly need a pair of waders, neoprem is best for fishing the cold water. If you do not have waders they can be purchased down the street at the local baitshop or online at Http://maumeetackle.tripod.com.

You will also need a Pole 6' Medium action is the common choice with a spinning reel and 8 lb. line or if you perfer fishing lighter that is up to you.All of the jigs and tails will be provided as part of the trip. I will also have stringers for you to use. Other then that there is really nothing else that you need other then your desire. Make sure you are dressed for the weather.
